AB-620 Microsoft Certified AI Agent Builder Associate prepares developers and advanced makers for the Microsoft AB-620 certification, which validates the skills to design, build, extend and integrate custom AI agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio and related Microsoft technologies. AI agents can answer questions from organisational knowledge, carry out tasks and automate processes across business systems, and certified agent builders deliver them reliably and securely. The course is designed for developers, Power Platform makers, consultants and IT professionals.

The course follows the official exam domains. You will start by planning and configuring agent solutions, gathering requirements, choosing agent types and models, configuring knowledge sources, instructions, topics and generative orchestration, and setting up environments, authentication and security. Next you will integrate and extend agents in Copilot Studio, adding actions and tools, connectors and Power Automate flows, using Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and REST APIs, building multi-agent solutions and publishing agents to Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams and other channels.

The final domain covers testing and managing agents, including evaluating agent quality, monitoring analytics, troubleshooting conversations, applying governance and data loss prevention policies, and managing the agent lifecycle with solutions and pipelines. Each domain combines hands-on labs with exam-style practice questions. By the end, you will be able to build and manage production-ready AI agents in Copilot Studio confidently and be well prepared to pass the AB-620 exam.

Agent building is the central thread in Dr. Alfred Ang's work. Dr. Ang is a full-stack AI developer, Agentic AI solution architect and corporate trainer, and is CTO of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd, the Singapore organisation behind Tertiary Courses. Building intelligent agents and scalable business solutions end-to-end, across front end, back end, databases, cloud deployment and native mobile apps, Dr. Ang has published more than 300 public repositories on GitHub. Many of those repositories are agents that answer questions from organisational knowledge and carry out tasks across business systems, the same capabilities the AB-620 exam measures. Dr. Ang built a self-service HR portal on n8n where leave applications pass through human-in-the-loop manager approval and an OpenAI HR chatbot is guarded against off-topic or unsafe requests, as well as RAG chatbots that answer from uploaded documents and course brochures. A self-hosted learning and training management system automates operations with AI agents, while a voice-cloned digital-human avatar is trained on an organisation's own content and can be embedded on any site. Dr. Ang has also built tooling around Microsoft Learn, including a browser-automation utility that searches Learn courses and opens course pages. These projects give practical depth to topics such as knowledge grounding, actions, guardrails and testing. Designing these agents for daily use has taught Dr. Ang that the hardest parts are rarely the conversation itself, but rather grounding answers in trusted knowledge, granting the right permissions and proving the agent behaves consistently, which are precisely the skills a certified agent builder must demonstrate.

The AB-620 Microsoft Certified AI Agent Builder Associate course follows the exam's three skill areas, and Dr. Ang anchors each one in hands-on agent work. In planning and configuring agent solutions, learners scope what an agent should and should not do, choose knowledge sources, design topics and conversation flow, and set up environments and authentication in Copilot Studio. The second area focuses on integrating and extending agents: connecting to business data and systems through connectors and flows, adding actions so an agent can complete tasks rather than just answer, and extending capabilities where low-code configuration is not enough. The third area covers testing and managing agents, including evaluating answers against expected behaviour, monitoring usage and quality, handling errors gracefully, and governing agents through their lifecycle. Because Dr. Ang has built guarded chatbots and approval-based agents for real operations, the class spends time on the practical questions certified builders face, such as how to stop an agent overreaching and how to prove it behaves reliably before release. Each topic combines explanation with guided labs, and Dr. Ang highlights exam-style scenarios so participants can connect what they build with what the certification expects. Learners finish ready to sit the exam and to deliver agents at work. Participants are also given advice on preparing for the exam itself, such as reviewing the official skills outline, practising in a trial environment and focusing revision on scenario-based questions, so that the knowledge gained through hands-on labs translates into confidence on exam day and in the workplace.
