Domain 1 IT Concepts and Terminology (13%)

  • Explain the basics of computing (input, processing, output, storage)

  • Compare and contrast common units of measure (storage, throughput, processing speed)
  • Explain the troubleshooting methodology (identify problem, establish theory, test, plan of action, verify, document)

Domain 2 Infrastructure (24%)

  • Explain common computing devices and their purposes (smartphones, laptops, servers, IoT devices, VR/AR systems)
  • Explain the purpose of common internal computing components (motherboard, BIOS, RAM, CPU, GPU, storage, NIC)
  • Compare and contrast storage types (volatile vs. non-volatile, local storage, local network storage)
  • Install and configure common peripheral devices (printers, scanners, keyboards, displays, UPS)
  • Compare and contrast common I/O device interfaces (wired/wireless networking, display ports, peripheral device connectors)
