This course prepares you for the CSSC-CLSSWB certification exam, covering all official exam domains:

Domain 1 Chapter 1: What is Six Sigma?

  • Distinguish data-driven decision making from intuition/experience-based decision making
  • Define Six Sigma (6σ) as both a process-improvement methodology and a statistical concept (3.4 defects per million opportunities)
  • Calculate sigma level / process yield from number of opportunities and defects
  • Apply common Six Sigma principles: customer focus, value streams, process thinking
  • Identify common challenges/obstacles to Six Sigma implementation

Domain 2 Chapter 2: Six Sigma History and Application

  • Trace the development of Statistical Process Control (Shewhart/Deming roots)
  • Explain Toyota's contribution to continuous process improvement and Lean
  • Describe Motorola's focus on defects as the origin of Six Sigma
  • Explain adoption at ABB, Allied Signal, and General Electric
  • Describe the continued growth and cross-industry spread of Six Sigma
  • Apply Six Sigma knowledge appropriately within an organization

Domain 3 Chapter 3: Other Process Improvement and Quality Methods

  • Identify other formal quality/process-improvement programs (e.g. TQM, BPR, Lean, Customer Experience Management, JumpStart) and how they differ from Six Sigma
  • Recognize scenarios best suited to each improvement method
  • Determine when to use Six Sigma over other methods: unknown root cause, widespread/undefined problems, complex multi-variable problems, cost-critical processes
