n8n is one of Dr. Alfred Ang's go-to tools for turning AI agents into dependable automations. Dr. Ang is a full-stack AI developer, Agentic AI solution architect and corporate trainer, and is CTO of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd, the Singapore training organisation behind Tertiary Courses, building intelligent agents and scalable solutions end-to-end across front end, back end, databases, cloud deployment and native mobile apps. Of the more than 300 public repositories on GitHub, a substantial group is built on n8n. Dr. Ang created a low-code, self-hosted IoT platform powered by n8n that connects Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi devices over MQTT and HTTP with companion iOS and Android apps, and an inventory audit and forecasting agent that runs on a local LLM through Ollama. Other projects include a no-code RAG demo where a Telegram agent powered by Google Gemini answers questions from uploaded PDFs, a customer-service RAG chatbot for a cooking and bakery training centre, a stock-analysis dashboard with a Telegram AI agent, an investment advisor chatbot, an HR portal with human-in-the-loop leave approval, and an email automation for Tertiary Courses Malaysia and Ghana using Gmail OAuth and MailerLite. Together they cover nearly every pattern this course teaches. Building and running these automations has given Dr. Ang practical knowledge of the details that decide whether an n8n workflow survives in production, such as credential management, retries, rate limits, logging and keeping a human informed when an agent is unsure.
Agentic AI with n8n gives operations and IT professionals, business analysts, developers and automation enthusiasts a structured path from simple workflows to secure, production-ready agents. Dr. Ang begins with workflow automation fundamentals in n8n, including triggers, nodes, data mapping and error handling. The second topic introduces agentic process automation, where AI agents reason over inputs, choose tools and make decisions inside a workflow. Topic three covers webhooks and HTTP requests, so learners can trigger automations from forms and other systems and call external APIs, a technique Dr. Ang uses across the IoT platform and email projects. The fourth topic enhances workflows with agentic RAG, building agents that retrieve answers from documents and knowledge bases while staying grounded in the source material. The final topic addresses human-in-the-loop design, monitoring and security in n8n: adding approval steps, logging and alerting, protecting credentials and controlling what an agent may do. Because each of these patterns has run in one of Dr. Ang's own projects, the class includes practical advice on what fails in production and how to fix it. Sessions are hands-on, with live builds, guided exercises and time to prototype an automation from learners' own work. Participants also learn how to self-host n8n or use a cloud workspace, organise and version their workflows, and choose between cloud and local language models based on cost, speed and data sensitivity, so they can plan automations that remain affordable and compliant as usage grows.
