Dr. Alfred Ang is a full-stack AI developer, cloud and DevOps practitioner and the Chief Technology Officer of Tertiary Infotech Academy, where he leads the teams that build the academy's platforms and design its technology courses. He uses Linux routinely to run the cloud platforms he builds, and he makes the command line approachable for beginners and practitioners alike. His cloud native credentials include Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), alongside AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and CompTIA Security+. He specialises in cloud-native platforms built with Docker, Kubernetes and AWS, automated through CI/CD and run on Linux servers, with a strong emphasis on reliable, real-world deployment. Academically, he holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore, an MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from NTU and a BSc (Hons) in Physics from NUS. Over more than 20 years he has worked in the defence, electronics and semiconductor industries, published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers, co-invented over 20 US patents and founded several technology businesses, including Tertiary Infotech Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia in 2016. Alongside his DevOps work, he designs and deploys AI-powered applications end to end, from frontend and backend systems to LLM orchestration, workflow automation and scalable cloud infrastructure, with a focus on measurable business impact, and he applies the same container and pipeline practices to every system he ships. His teaching emphasises applied skills, ethical governance and sustainable adoption, translating complex technology into practical, industry-aligned learning for professionals and organisations.
Dr. Ang teaches Linux the way practitioners actually use it. His production platforms, including a franchise course-registration system serving Singapore, Malaysia and Ghana, run as Docker containers on Linux servers managed with Coolify, and his training platform launches Docker-based Ubuntu and Kali Linux environments in the browser for hands-on practice. He relies on shell scripting and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, deployments and routine maintenance. In this masterclass he starts with Linux fundamentals, including the file system hierarchy, navigating the command line, managing files, permissions and ownership, users, groups and packages, then moves to shell scripting with variables, loops, conditions and scheduled tasks. He covers networking configuration, from interfaces and IP addressing to DNS, SSH and connectivity troubleshooting, and finishes with Linux security, drawing on his CompTIA Security+ certification to explain hardening, firewalls and secure remote access. As a CKA and CKAD holder, he also shows how these skills lead naturally into containers, Kubernetes and AWS cloud work. Every topic is taught through guided hands-on practice in real Linux environments, so learners type commands, write scripts and fix mistakes themselves, building the muscle memory and confidence they need to administer servers at work, prepare for certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, or move into DevOps and cloud engineering roles. Learners are welcome to explore his projects on GitHub at https://github.com/alfredang and connect with him on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/angchewhoe/
Dr. Muhammed Siraj is a cybersecurity specialist and academic with 15 years of experience, and he complements this Linux Masterclass with a security perspective, especially in the Linux Security topic. At Academic City University in Accra, Ghana, he serves as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Informatics and as Director of Graduate and Continuous Education. His academic training spans three countries: a degree from the University of Ghana, an MSc in Information and Communication Technology from Aalborg University in Denmark, and a PhD in Security in Computing from Universiti Putra Malaysia, where he researched blockchain security. Beyond the university, he is a licensed independent assessor with Ghana's Cyber Security Authority and holds leadership roles in national cybersecurity and privacy professional bodies. He is a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) and Certified Data Protection Supervisor (CDPS), and was formerly Acting Director of ICT and Data Protection Supervisor at Wisconsin International University College.
Dr. Siraj focuses on Linux security and on the security implications of everyday work at the command line. Drawing on his expertise in access control, vulnerability management, endpoint security and cryptography, he explains why file permissions and ownership, careful management of users and groups, secure remote access, firewalls and regular patching are the foundation of a safe Linux system. In the shell scripting topic, his background in secure software development helps learners avoid common mistakes such as exposing passwords in scripts or running tasks with more privileges than they need. For networking configuration, his university teaching in network security and data communication adds clear context on ports, services and traffic. His experience in SIEM, incident response and digital forensics also shows learners why system logs matter and how they are used when something goes wrong. Having studied for his PhD at Universiti Putra Malaysia, he enjoys working with Malaysian beginners, developers and IT practitioners building confident, security-aware Linux skills.
Saeid is co-founder of Skymics Sdn Bhd. He has 8 years of experience in the field of IoT (Internet of Things) and Information Technology.
