What's This Course About

Git and Github Masterclass gives you hands-on mastery of Git, the world's most popular version control system, and GitHub, the platform where developers store, share and collaborate on code. Version control lets you track every change, experiment safely and work with others without overwriting each other's work. This masterclass is designed for developers, data analysts, IT professionals, students and anyone who works with code, scripts or documentation and wants to collaborate professionally.

You will start with an introduction to Git and GitHub, installing Git, creating repositories and learning the core workflow of staging, committing and viewing history. Next you will work with GitHub repositories, pushing and pulling changes, cloning and forking projects, and writing good README files. You will then explore collaboration features, including branching and merging, pull requests, code reviews, resolving merge conflicts and managing issues, so you can work confidently in a team.

The course continues with modern development practices such as GitHub Actions for automation, GitHub Codespaces and AI coding assistance with GitHub Copilot, followed by GitHub Projects for planning and tracking work. The final topic covers privacy, security and administration, including access control, branch protection, secret management and organisation settings. Every topic is hands-on. By the end of the masterclass, you will be able to manage your code with Git and collaborate effectively on GitHub.
