What's This Course About

Finance for Non-Finance Managers helps managers and professionals without a financial background understand the numbers that drive business decisions. You will learn how to read and interpret financial statements, analyse profitability and cash flow, and use financial information to plan, evaluate options and communicate confidently with finance colleagues. The course is designed for managers, department heads, project leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals who are responsible for budgets or performance.

You will start with the process of financial statement analysis, understanding how the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement fit together and what each tells you about an organisation. Next you will learn the different financial ratios used to measure liquidity, efficiency, gearing and returns, and apply them in profitability analysis to see where a business makes and loses money. You will then explore cash flow analysis, understanding why profitable companies can still run out of cash and how to manage working capital.

The course also covers preparing projected financial and cash flow statements, using financial analysis to determine the health of an organisation, and evaluating its historical performance to inform future plans. Practical exercises use real company figures and simple case studies relevant to everyday management decisions. By the end, you will be able to interpret financial information with confidence, contribute to budgeting and planning, and make better-informed decisions for your team and organisation.
