What's This Course About

Data Analytics with R teaches you how to transform raw data into actionable insights using R, the powerful open-source language for statistics and data analysis. Widely used in research, finance, healthcare and business analytics, R offers a rich ecosystem of packages for cleaning, analysing and visualising data. This course is designed for analysts, researchers, students and professionals who want a practical, hands-on introduction to data analytics using R and RStudio.

You will begin with data preparation and transformation, importing data from files and databases, and using the tidyverse, including dplyr and tidyr, to clean, filter, reshape, join and create new variables. Next you will learn to produce data summaries, calculating descriptive statistics and grouping data to compare segments. You will then move into quantitative data analysis, applying techniques such as correlation, hypothesis testing and regression to explore relationships and test assumptions in numeric data.

The course continues with qualitative data analysis, working with categorical and text data, frequency tables and cross-tabulations, followed by data visualisation with ggplot2 to create clear bar charts, histograms, scatter plots and multi-panel charts. Every topic is hands-on with real datasets and reproducible R scripts, and you will learn how to document your analysis with R Markdown. By the end, you will be able to prepare, analyse and visualise data in R confidently and communicate your findings in a way that supports better decisions.

Saeid Alizadeh is a data analytics and visualisation specialist with more than eight years of hands-on experience in data processing, visualisation and analytics, and is a Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate. He has trained Malaysian professionals in data analysis and data visualisation with Tertiary Infotech Sdn. Bhd. since 2016 and has been an HRD Corp Accredited Trainer since 2021, specialising in Power BI, Excel data analysis and Tableau. As Chief Technology Officer of Skymics Sdn. Bhd., a Kuala Lumpur MSC Malaysia-status IoT company, he leads solutions in which data from smart energy monitoring, smart plantation, smart building and environmental monitoring systems is collected, cleaned and turned into dashboards and decisions, and he has also worked on social media analytics and smart-city energy management projects. Earlier in his career he served as IT Director at World Wide Science. He is a Certified Citizen Data Scientist Train-the-Trainer and a certified IBM IoT Practitioner and Instructor, is co-inventor of three inventions, and holds an MBA in Information Technology from Multimedia University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (Information Technology).

In Data Analytics with R, Saeid teaches a complete analysis workflow in R. Learners prepare and transform data, summarise it, carry out quantitative and qualitative data analysis and present results with clear data visualisations. Drawing on his experience as a Certified Citizen Data Scientist trainer and his analytics work across IoT, energy and social media data, he emphasises asking the right question, choosing the right method and explaining results to non-technical stakeholders.
