Creative work with generative AI is something Dr. Alfred Ang does constantly, not just something taught in class. Dr. Ang is a full-stack AI developer, Agentic AI solution architect, corporate trainer and CTO of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd in Singapore, the training organisation behind Tertiary Courses, building intelligent agents and complete applications from front end to cloud deployment and native mobile apps. A striking share of the 300+ public repositories is about making things with AI. One project turns any topic into a narrated video with an AI-written script, synthetic voiceover and animated scenes in TikTok or YouTube formats. Another takes a portrait and a script and produces a talking avatar using several lip-sync engines. A logo maker generates three design options from a short description using Gemini or OpenAI image models. There is a browser-based playground that generates AR and VR scenes from vibe prompts, an offline fractal art generator for iPhone, iPad and Android, and a Procreate-style sketching studio with brushes, layers and symmetry tools. For younger audiences, Dr. Ang built AI Kids Academy, a learning portal with gamified AI storytelling, coding and game development activities, together with companion apps on the App Store and Google Play. Each of these projects started as a rough idea that was explored, iterated and refined in conversation with AI tools, which is precisely the creative loop this course teaches. Working across text, images, video and 3D scenes in this way means the visual side of creativity is as familiar to Dr. Ang as the written side.
In Generative AI for Creativity, Dr. Ang draws on that experience to show how AI can become a genuine creative partner rather than a shortcut. The first topic, getting started with generative AI for creative work, introduces assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini alongside AI image generators, and explains in plain terms what these tools are good at, where they struggle and how to write prompts that carry tone, audience and style. The second topic, creating written and visual content with AI, is highly practical: learners draft taglines, stories, captions and short articles, then generate matching visuals and refine both through rounds of feedback, much as Dr. Ang iterates on logos, video scripts and story scenes. The third topic, AI-assisted ideation and creative workflows, covers techniques for beating the blank page, such as generating many variations, remixing concepts and asking the AI to critique its own output, and then shows how to chain these steps into a repeatable workflow for a real project. Dr. Ang also discusses originality, copyright and the responsible use of AI-generated images, so that learners can use their work with confidence. Expect a relaxed, experimental atmosphere with plenty of live demonstrations and time to create, compare and share results with classmates. Learners leave with a small portfolio of AI-assisted pieces and a toolkit of prompts for future work. To see the creative AI projects that inspire these sessions, visit https://github.com/alfredang.
