3D Printing Masterclass gives you a comprehensive, practical understanding of 3D printing and additive manufacturing, and how these technologies are transforming product development, prototyping and production. From desktop FDM printers to industrial resin, powder and metal systems, 3D printing lets you turn digital designs into physical parts quickly and economically. The masterclass is designed for engineers, product designers, manufacturing professionals, educators and makers who want to use 3D printing effectively.

You will start with an overview of additive manufacturing and 3D printing, comparing the main process families, including material extrusion, vat photopolymerisation, powder bed fusion and material jetting, and the materials each uses. You will learn the end-to-end workflow, from CAD model and STL file to slicing, printing and post-processing. Next you will examine process-related issues, such as design for additive manufacturing, orientation, support structures, tolerances, warping, layer adhesion and surface finish.

The final topic covers process improvement for additive manufacturing, including selecting the right technology and material for an application, optimising print settings, inspecting quality and reducing cost and lead time. You will also discuss real case studies from industry. The masterclass combines theory with hands-on printing activities. By the end, you will be able to evaluate additive manufacturing options, design better parts for 3D printing and troubleshoot and improve print quality with confidence.
