Malaysia Unveils Digital Action Plan 2030 (MD2030): The AI Nation Push
Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim has launched the Malaysia Digital Action Plan 2030 (MD2030), a national roadmap to turn Malaysia from a technology consumer into a homegrown AI Nation. Led by the Ministry of Digital with the National AI Office and GovTech Malaysia, it's one of the clearest career signals of the decade.
The headline targets (2026–2030)
- Digital economy = 30% of national GDP
- 500,000 new jobs in the sector
- RM4.5 billion in public-sector savings; 95% of government services fully online
- Seven pillars: government, economy, infrastructure, talent, society, trust/security and innovation
Why this matters for you
An "AI Nation" needs people who can actually build and apply AI. Employers across banking, manufacturing, healthcare and the public sector will be hiring for exactly these skills — and the fastest way in is hands-on training in generative AI, prompt engineering, machine learning and AI agents.
